You saw the JC label under Shane Dorian's feet in the movie In God's Hands and those were John Carper's shapes under the Eden label in Blue Crush. Peter Mel pioneered tow surfing at Mavericks on a "magic" 7' 2" tow board shaped by John Carper. Mike Parsons caught a $65,000 wave at Cortes Bank riding a JC "sling shot"- and then he lost it out to sea. The JC label is one of the most respected in the surfing world from T Street to Pipeline to Jaws, and now you can see the JC label on a range of modern, high performance shortboards produced by Surftech. |

At just 33 years old, M10 Surfboards founder/shaper Geoff Rashe finds himself at the helm of one of the world's hottest new shortboard labels. He is one of the first shapers in the USA to use in-house CNC technology for both design and production. As a contributing designer to the Surftech program, Rashe feels he brings modern precision to the traditional art of his elder colleagues. He shaped his first board in 1989 while a student at U.C. San Diego. "It was a 6' 4" roundpin that I shaped for myself, but I sold it for $120. Back in Santa Cruz, Rashe worked at Arrow Surfboards from 1994 to 1996 and claims Bob Pearson as his biggest influence. Halfway through 1996, he started his own surfboard company, naming it M10 in honor of Mach 10. "I started under my mom's deck here at her house on the Westside," Rashe said. "Then for a short time I was in Watsonville and then we moved to the factory where we are now on the Westside of Santa Cruz. |

Jeff Lausch is an Orange County guy from the womb to the tomb. He grew up in Fountain Valley and made that natural gravitation from the shady turf to the sunny surf during high school. In the 70's and 80's, Lausch was a part of the Orange County punk scene. He was "a full garage guy" often seen with a lot of wild hair poking out of a shaping mask, and he got tagged "Doc Mad." He didn't really want that nickname but nicknames can sometimes stick and he was forever after Doc Lausch. When Doc went legit with his own company, he decided to call it Surf Prescriptions. As a shaper, some of Doc's boards have made history at Teahupoo and Cortes Bank and all over California. The guy can shape, and Surftech is proud to have the Good Doctor making a pair of high-performance boards for the mature surfer under the Surftech label. |
